Experiential Learning Approach

Leadership Academy for Young Men creates an educational advantage for their young men. Single gender settings provide fewer distractions; teachers are able to address the specific learning styles of males. Service Learning is an important part to this learning style; it teaches the young men to care about their community and others. Additionally, the JROTC program the school requires for all their attendees teaches character development and leadership skills.

Leadership Academy for Young Men is partnered with St. John Fisher College, Nazareth College, Rochester Institute of Technology and University of Rochester. Local college professors take time to work with teachers on delivery of instruction and curriculum while the young males that attend this high school have the opportunity to experience the college campuses environment at the finest local colleges of Rochester.

Adult male role models from local industries, businesses, colleges and fraternal organizations are used as mentors for these young men. Businesses such as, Paychex Corporation, Clear Channel Radio, WDKX Radio, Democrat & Chronicle, Rochester Police Department, JROTC and others have offered to provide direction and help shape these young men into well respected individuals.
